"The reflective glaze on a Ming bowl...the mottled texture on a group of pears...the colors and patterns of ancient Egyptian tiles...the expressive human qualities I find in animals, all these elements individually and collectively spur the stimulus for my passion, painting."
Noted internationally as a master of texture color and form, Slaght's realistic depictions of natural and manmade objects are created through the use of various emulsions and thin acrylic washes in subtly graduated hues attaining a crisp brilliance to his paintings.
Trained at the prestigious Art Center College of Design
in Pasadena ,California, Michael Slaght is a fourth generation Californian. Born in Whittier in 1954 he grew up in Orange County where his youth was spent combing the beaches of Corona Del Mar and hiking the canyons of Majeska and Santiago Creek.
The paintings of Michael Slaght have been used in motion pictures, popular television shows, luxury cruise ships, and included in major national and international private and corporate collections.
