Navigating through the vast network of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, I find myself barraged with visual information.  I feel compelled by, yet detached from the inanimate structures and urban decay that surrounds me, captivated by the funky foliage while contemplating the horizontal landscapes connection with socioeconomic verticality.  My work is a filtered outlook of my surroundings, one reflecting the complexly ambivalent relationships not just between the territory and my individual map, between the constructs of abstraction and representation, but between disparate patches of metropolitan spaces.

By redesigning structures and spaces with my set of rules, I am able to create an analogous relationship between my work and the surrounding urban frequencies.  Both my drawings and paintings, utilize certain objects which become recontextualized after my perception and imagination gets a hold of them.  Streetless traffic lights signal change, while vehicles fly.  Other contraptions are created to do the jobs we can’t.  Telephone lines survey the sky, while antennas and satellite dishes keep us tuned in.  These objects along with my block like structures, create a sociogeographical network demonstrating the dichotomy between the individual parts of the city and the macro system it’s plugged into.

All the parts, pieces, links, barriers, and intersections feed into a network which engulfs the viewer.  A textured experience which leaves me more connected to my environment, is what I obtain from my work.
